Born and raised in Fort Worth, Kelly found yoga in 2011 as a way to keep moving with breath after she decided to stop dancing competitively. She lost her practice during college while pursuing a degree in Theatre Performance from the University of Texas at Arlington but found her way back after moving to New York City in 2017. She found the stress involved with living in New York significantly easier to navigate with her daily practice and began to crave a more in-depth understanding of yoga.
In 2019, Kelly competed her 200-HR Yoga Teacher Training in Vinyasa Style Yoga with New York Yoga. During her training, she fell in love with the philosophy and mythology associated with yoga and works actively to incorporate these aspects into her classes. She also found that the hands-on portion was incredibly therapeutic, both while giving and receiving. Students are always welcome to opt-out but those who enjoy receiving hands-on assists can expect a fair amount in Kelly’s classes.
Beyond teaching yoga, Kelly is also an actor. In addition to acting, she loves to read, watch movies, bake, and play trivia. Her love of story lends itself to teaching yoga in that she challenges yogis to question the stories they tell themselves about their capabilities and capacity for growth.
