300hr Program
Advanced Training

Overview

The Elemental Yoga 300 Hour Advanced Training Program is registered with the Yoga Alliance. Upon completion of this course, you may apply to be recognized as an RYT 500 through the Yoga Alliance. This program is a deep dive into your self.  You, as a participant, make a commitment to excellence. You commit to arrive, to learn, and to remain open and discerning. This program is intended as a launch station that will help you improve your life physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

This program builds the skill of interoception - feeling from the inside out. This increases your emotional and physical intelligence and builds empathy for your present and future students. You will learn to translate your experiences in a way that is down to earth and relevant to your desired teaching population. Additionally, you will focus on building intuition through the self-reliance that is gained through regular sadhana.

Not only will you, the advanced student, become more effective at life, you will learn to guide others toward that same end. This program is personal and practical. Our methodology of self-improvement and service occurs on three main levels: structured learning, accountability/class assignments, and the willingness to continually take your next step in learning. If you hold fast to these three principles, you will enter the vortex of transformation. It is our honor for you to enroll in this program.

Curriculum

This training is conducted as a blend of live in-person classes, live online classes, and online pre-recorded coursework. All live in-person classes can be attended online as needed.

The 300-hour training program consists of an immersion ayurveda experience, apprenticeship, Advanced Classical Ashtanga Yoga, and Therapeutic and Adaptive Yoga.

Advanced Classical Ashtanga Yoga Module

The classical Ashtanga Yoga module takes a deep dive into the main scriptural themes of the Yoga Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita. The other main focus of the training program is exposure to and implementation of advanced yogic practices such as shat karmapranayama, mantra, mudra, and meditation.

The module begins by reviewing basic breathing exercises such as the four purifications and the three locks. It then moves into more advanced breath practices as taught by Baba Hari Dass of the Mount Madonna Center.

Each week, your teacher will review a major theme from the Yoga Sutras or Bhagavad Gita. Review of themes will involve studying classical commentary, the Sanskrit roots of words, comparison and overlap with other spiritual traditions, and suggestions for modern application of themes.

In this module we will not only study the intellectual meaning of the scriptures, class and homework will be set up to engage the texts with reverence and sacred application. Students are expected to practice at home the breath-work, mantra, meditation and/or advanced asana techniques taught in class. For the last two thirds of the training program, students will present during Sunday morning classes. Presentations will include scriptural themes, application, breath-work, meditation, and/or breath led asana.
