Ayurveda Cleanse Day 9

Breakfast:

Almond Based Chai Milk

Lunch:

1) Sweet Potato, Potato & Beet

I first sautéed these on top of the stove with ghee, cumin, coriander and turmeric, then I decided to put them in the oven at 350 degrees for another 20 minutes while I cooked everything else. This made them a little crispier.

2) Sautéed Collard Greens

These are cooked in ghee, paprika, dill, black pepper and garlic

3) Cooked Salad Mix

This included some of the leftover salad from yesterday. I added a few ingredients and then cooked it on the stove: onion, apple, beet, carrot and broccoli. I didn't add any spices to this but I used the same pan that I had cooked the potatoes in. So they absorbed the remaining spices.

4) Raw avocado and apple soup

This was originally intended as a salad dressing. However I kept adding more water so that it wouldn't be so thick. The result was delicious. This includes 1/2 avocado, 1/2 apple, 1.5 tablespoons of walnut oil, dash of Braggs Liquid Aminos, Dash of Balsamic Vinegar, Dash of Honey and water. The water is added as needed.

Optional Lunch Dessert:

1) Figs

2) Vegan Hot chocolate

This has cocoa powder with 1/3 orange and 1/2-2 tablespoons of honey blended in depending on how sweet you want it to be. This turned out pretty good. However, I couldn't taste the orange as well I anticipated. For next time I might put in the essence of orange from an ingestible essential oil.

Dinner:

Almond Based Chai Milk

Afterthoughts from today's lunch:

My original image was for this portion of the cleanse to be very austere. However that is not what has happened so far. Instead I have come up with creative ways to eat clean but absolutely deliciously. How am I doing this? I usually blend nut butters into my dressings to make them more filling. This week I have been using an avocado. The avocado creates the same sense of satiation.

Sometimes it takes my body a minute to come to what my mind is asking it to do. I planned to eat very lightly but instead I have come up with all these fun and interesting recipes instead. So I am considering extending the central portion of the cleanse to be a longer period of time: to spend the rest of this week still exploring decadent vegan recipes and then to go into next week actually focusing primarily on steamed vegetables as my sustenance. To be determined!
