Day 2 Ayurveda Cleanse:
It’s nice to ease yourself into the process of cleansing. Here is a delicious meal idea covering all 6 Ayurvedic tastes: sweet, sour, salty, pungent, bitter, astringent. The secret to covering all six tastes and having a meal that is physically and psychologically satisfying is to cover multiple food groups and use a variety of spices. There are three pieces to the meal:
Tumeric rice with raisins
Cooked in butter and “Brynn’s everything spice.”
Sauteed cauliflower with garbanzo beans and raisins.
Cooked in coconut oil with Brynn’s everything spice.
Green lettuce salad with beets, carrots and cucumber.
Dressing: peanut butter, liquid amino acids, honey, water, olive oil, ginger
This is a soft way to begin the cleanse. Notice that there are 3 different types of oil used within the meal: Butter with the rice, olive oil with the dressing and coconut oil with the cauliflower. This is ok for the beginning stages of the cleanse. As we transition into week 2, it will be important to hone in with just one type of oil as this is simpler for the system to digest.
Brynn’s everything spice covers the flavor bases. This contains: turmeric, cumin, coriander, paprika, dill, garlic, cinnamon and a few other spices. It makes every dish taste good.
If you don’t have all the foods listed in this meal that is not a concern. Instead, use any type of bean in place of garbanzos and any type of vegetable in place of cauliflower. Make lunch your biggest meal as this is the time when the digestive fire is the strongest.
